The Dock Technik retractable dock shelter plays an integral role in ensuring the loading bay remains protected from the elements during the loading process. When the vehicle docks on the bay the dock buffers will ensure there is sufficient space between the vehicle and the building so as not to cause any damage. Without a retractable dock shelter installed, the rain water can penetrate the gap between the vehicle and the loading bay and cause a serious health and safety hazard. The water will sit on the dock leveller checker platform and create a dangerously wet surface for personnel and forklift trucks, even once the sectional door has been closed the dock leveller platform will still retain the water. The retractable dock shelter is designed to cover the gap between the vehicle and the building to ensure the bay remains dry at all times, minimising any chance of a slip on the loading bay due to surface water.
The Dock Technik retractable dock shelter can suit a plethora of vehicle sizes by adjusting the overall height and width of the retractable dock shelter or the length of the head and side curtains of the retractable dock shelter. The retractable dock shelter is installed by fixing the rear frame to an existing building or structure using bolts wherever possible. The rear frame of the retractable dock shelter can be tailored to suit a variety of surface details such as stepped cladding, this will ensure that there are no gaps between the retractable dock shelter and the building. The retractable dock shelter frame can also have the projection altered if it is required to overcome any elements that may stand in the way of a vehicle sealing into the retractable dock shelter.
The Dock Technik retractable dock shelter is also tough, the retractable arms from which it derives its name allow the dock shelter to retract in the event of accident impact so the retractable dock shelter is not irreparably damaged. The retractable dock shelter frame is manufactured using high grade steel box section at the optimum thickness to provide strength without being too heavy for the retractable dock shelter to be mounted on the wall. The front curtains on the retractable dock shelter that seal around the vehicle are reinforced waterproof PVC and are held torte by elasticated bungee cords. The front curtains of the retractable dock shelter also have the option of an illuminous yellow parking guide, the parking guide assists the driver of the vehicle when reversing onto the bay to aid them docking centrally and straight to create the very best seal possible with the retractable dock shelter. The roof and side frame coverings are manufactured with a lighter duty waterproof PVC as they are a low impact area.
